Common Indianapolis Trash Collection Rules
Set-Out Times: Bins must be placed at the curb or alley before 7:00 AM on your collection day.
Placement: Cans must sit 2 to 3 feet from the curb with handles facing your home and at least 5 feet away from parked cars or structures.
Heavy Trash Pickup: The City of Indianapolis allows up to two heavy or bulky items per month on designated heavy trash days.
Holiday Slide Schedule: If a major holiday falls on a weekday, collection shifts back one day for the rest of the week (e.g., Monday moves to Tuesday, Friday moves to Saturday). Observed holidays include New Year's Day, MLK Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.
